Debate:
Is cinema knowledge-giving or life-spoiling? Conduct a debate.
Answer:
Tarun: Yesterday, I watched the movie ‘Dangal’. Really a worth-watching movie.

Gangadhar: Yes. Dangal is a patriarch at the helm. A patriarch who wished happy fututre for his country and for the daughters.

Vidya: But, how many films are giving messages like Dangal? Most of the films are based on success formula – that is 3 fights, 6 dances, colourful heroines, some comedy, and ear breaking music score. Pity is that, in a recent film, a highly educated girl goes behind a vagabond or rif raf rascal. Don’t such films give wrong message to the society.

Reshmi: Once our late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi joked that our films show violence for 2.30 hrs and in the last 30 minutes, they show a message that violence is not good. What is the use then?

Tarun: The main aim of films is entertainment. But, in the name of entertainment, showing ugly scenes is not correct. After all, it is human nature to get attracted to bad things rather than to morals. We see often in newspaper, criminals saving that they followed a particular film in attempting the crime.

Gangadhar: nowadays, the government is taking strict measures to show in films that smoking and consuming alcohol are dangerous. But, the society, particularly filmmakers have to maintain self-restraint in producing life-spoiling films.
