WM : Many wars that are fought in the world are fought over natural resources. Some wars are fought because the environment is so degraded that it is not able to support communities and so they fight over the little that is left. Others are fought because some people want to take a lot of the resources, to control them, and to keep many other people out.

Now whether this happens at the national level or at the regional level, or even at the global level, sooner or later there is discontent; and when that discontent is strong enough, there is conflict. So good management of the natural resources, equitable distribution of these resources, is important for peace. I had actually indulged so much in swabbing and cleaning, that I myself forgot my identity. It is the biggest mistake I have done till now. I will never repeat it. I will ask hubby to permit me to do a job. If he doesn’t I will paint and develop my skills. I will fight for my rights and be an independent woman henceforth. Tonight I will go to bed peacefully. Thank you God for this day. Bye dear diary.

Answer:

10.08.20xx

To
The Editor,
Deccan Chronicle,
Visakhapatnam.

Sir/Madam

Sub : Evoking awareness towards women’s safety

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to make the people aware of the increasing need for women’s safety.

We all know that atrocities and physical assaults on women have considerably raised these days throughout the country. Efforts have been taken up by various governments to curb this evil; the initiative of the government of Andhra Pradesh in this regard is particularly admirable. The best way to be safe in any danger is to identify and call on the resources to help out of trouble. The government of AP focussed on this premise and devised ‘DISHA app’ to put such resources at the fingertips quickly for the safety of women.

This app includes a panic button or SOS feature which helps women connect to emergency helplines in limited time. The SOS request sends the user’s location along with a ten second audio and video recording to the nearest Disha Command Control Room. This allows the authorities to take necessary action to rescue the victim. The app is a boon to all the women who might be in danger/need. The app has won many awards at the national level. Though some women have downloaded the app, some others who are not aware of the usefulness of the ‘Disha app’ are not registering it on their android phones.

So I request you to publish this letter in your newspaper to make people aware of the need and importance of the ‘Disha app’ so that women can be safe from danger.

Thanking you

Yours sincerely
Radhika. P

Dowry Deaths

AP SSC English Model Paper Set 5 with Solutions 6

Now, write a paragraph describing the information depicted in the diagram given.
Answer:
The bar diagram represents the number of dowry deaths registered and the cases convicted for the years 2006 to 2009. During the years 2007 and 2008, nearly the same number of people were convicted for dowry deaths. The year 2009 recorded the greatest number of dowry deaths. The highest cases were registered in the year 2009 with 8.383 thousands. However the cases convicted were less than that of 2007 and 2008. The bar diagram shows the pathetic condition of women in our society. Though the cases registered were more, the convicted cases were less. There is a dire need to give stringent punishment to the culprits. Then only the dowry deaths get controlled.
