They dipped them in some kinds of acids for few minutes and took out.

They polished the ornaments and returned them to her. She was wondered at the glittering of the ornaments. She was asked to pay very little amount for their work and left the place. After few days she took some of the ornaments to the jewellery shop for making of new model ornaments. To her surprise, the shop keeper said that, the ornaments weight was decreased.

The Emperor’s New Clothes Summary in English

There was an Emperor who was fond of new clothes. He spent all his money on them. One day two weavers came to his court and said that they could weave most beautiful cloth for the King. The King gave them a lot of money. Actually they had no tools or looms.

They got fine silk and gold from the King. They pretended to be weaving cloth. The King wanted to know how much cloth they wove. He sent a wise and old minister to them. He came but could not see anything there. Thinking that he would be counted as foolish, told the King that the cloth was splendid.

Later, the King wanted to see himself. He went to the weavers. They described the cloth in nice terms. The courtiers also said the same. They requested the King to wear the clothes on the procession day.

The King removed his clothes and wore the weaver’s clothes. He started on the procession. Everybody said that the Kings clothes were beautiful, but a little boy said that the King had no clothes on him. Then the King also realised that he had no clothes on him but the procession went on.

Question 33:

13. Describe how Tenali Raman cleverly gained the appreciation of the king in the lesson “Tenali Paints A Horse”.
Answer:
One day a painter showed his paintings to king Krishnadevaraya. The king and all his ministers appreciated the paintings except Tenali Rama Krishna. Tenali started finding fault with the painting, and said that he could paint better than the artist. The king then bet Tenali to make a painting at least half as good as the ones shown by the artist. Tenali accepted the challenge. The king gave him paints, paper and one month leave to make the painting. The courtiers who were jealous of Tenali giggled at him. Tenali left the court angrily.

One month passed. All the courtiers and the king were waiting eagerly for Tenali. Tenali entered with a painting with a few curved strokes of black on the right-hand edge and a few green lines at the bottom below it. The king felt insulted and angry on seeing the painting. Then Tenali replied that the missing parts are to be imagined. He said that the painting was a beautiful stallion with a white star on its forehead. The king was impressed with Tenali’s witty answer and rewarded him the bag of gold.

14. In the poem “Dear Mum” the boy who made a mess of things in the absence of his mom and later said that he did not know how things had happened, writes a letter to his friend confessing his deeds. Imagine that you are the boy in the poem and write the letter.
Answer:

Janagam,
Date: XX.XX.XXXX

Dear Ramesh,

I write this letter to confess something. The other day mom went out on some work and I was alone at home. I tried to prepare a cake. I wanted to give mom a surprise, but to my misery the whole thing went wrong. The raising flour I used to bake the cake, raised too much and fell on the floor. While I was trying to clean it, a cup on the platform fell on the floor and broke into pieces.

I tried to wash the bowls but forgot to turn off the tap. The sink overflowed and the water spilled on the floor. While mopping the floor, the vase which my mom’s grandpa had bought from China fell and a crack appeared on it. The mud in the vase stuck to my feet and left stains on the white carpet on the floor.

When mom returned and enquired of the mess, I was scared and I lied to her that I didn’t know anything. But I feel guilty about it.

I just wanted to share it with you.

Your friend,
Sunil.
