Read the following poem :

ITS CHANGE…

Mum, I don’t want to go to school today,
‘Cause I fear our world is in decay.
I feel my teachers are part of the plot,
I’m the only one who sees through the rot.
Scientists are cloning pigs and sheep,
Saying, it’s change – a quantum leap.
Biologists are making stem cells grow,
Saying, it’s change – the way to go.
Geologists are finding cracks in our earth,
Saying, it’s change – predicting its birth.
Archaeologists are digging up fossils and bones,
Saying, it’s change – time for clones.
Yes, scientists are causing me great concern,
Giving us kids too much to learn! – Emma Gorrie

ITS CHANGE… Summary in English

‘It’s change’ is a poem written by an American Poetess Emma Gorrie.

She narrated the poem on simple lines in a couplet form. Here the speaker is a school going child who is not willing to go to school due to some fears which she expresses to her mom.

She says to her mom that scientists in the name of a great change have started cloning animals. Biologists are doing experiments with stem cells and saying that it is all for a change.

Geologists are also equally busy in finding cracks in the earth. They are saying that they are tracing the origin of the earth.

Archaeologists are excavating the physical remains of the dead and saying it is all for a new change and it is the right time for cloning.

The girl finally says to her mom that all these are causing great worry to her. They are putting a great burden on the children to learn.
