Respected Principal, teachers and dear students,

Today I stand, before you to speak on pollution on the occasion of World Environment Day. Environmental pollution is one of the major and serious problems that is being faced by the developing countries. The ecological balance of the earth is being threatened by it. Air and water are polluted by the toxic constituents. Noise pollution has destroyed the calmness and serenity of our surroundings.

The use of, automobiles has been increasing ten times every five years releasing toxic smoke into the air affecting lungs. The traffic has increased rapidly in cities and highways polluting the residential areas.

The main sources of pollution are the increasing vehicular traffic and garbage. The petrol or diesel being used in the vehicles emits toxic smoke which contains lethal gases like carbon dioxide, carbonmonoxide and nitrogen oxide. All those inhaling these gases are prone to deadly diseases. Like bronchitis, asthma and other breathing problems. The accumulating garbage emits foul smell. It is the birth place of many contagious diseases. Various leather and chemical industries pollute both the air and the water by belching out poisonous smoke and effluents in water sources.

Question 5.
You are Naveen. A debate competition is being conducted in your school. Write a speech script of about 120 words for the competition on the topic “Mobile Phone.- A Boon or a Bane”.
Answer:
Honourable Chairperson, the jury and my dear friends. I am Naveen. I stand to oppose the motion :

Mobile Phone : A Boon or a Bane.

Mobile phone came into the public life just 15 years ago. But since its arrival, the personal and social life has completely changed. Though it was originally intended to facilitate communication, along with communication it facilitates so many other things which are both useful and harmful things.

With the advent of mobile phone, the privacy has been taken away from every individual. People have no other intellectual activity to promote mental ability. They are engaged in some activity or the other which is linked with mobile phone.

Even children don’t have the time to study as they are more attracted towards the entertaining programmes than towards the activities which increases their knowledge and wisdom. The mobile phone, evolved into a small computer, or we might call it a big slate. We can imagine that the primary purpose of communication has been totally pushed to back burner. Video games, texting and other activities came to be more important.

Though it has advantages, the disadvantages are more in number. Hence I call it ‘a Bane’. It has adversely affected the whole society and culture.

Answer:
Speech script on ‘Company of bad friends leads to bad habits:

Worthy principal, teachers and dear students,

Today I, Gautam, am going to speak to you on the harmful effects of the use of drugs on the occasion of Anti-Drugs Day. You have seen yourselves how our school senior student died in a road accident recently. He was a drug addict. All of you know under the intoxication of the drug he should not cross the road. The result is before you.

As per records the age group affected by drug addiction is more from 12 – 20. The percentage of drug addicts is Increasing year by year. You’ll agree with me that the use of the drugs like opium, marijuana, LSD or other drugs means nothing but inviting one’s self destruction and slow death. Drugs are more horrible. If after a certain stage, the druggiest can’t get them, he undergoes agoinising pain and severest kinds of bodyaches. Only drugs can give them some relief. So the drug users try their best to get them.

I would, therefore, urge you to avoid these deadly killers. A puff for the fun taken by young and unwary students results in such horrible deaths. We must love life and live it fully. Friends! Keep away from bad friends because their company leads to bad habits.

Thank you very much.

Write script for your speech to deliver on the day of Sports Day Celebrations.
Answer:
Honourable guest of honors, ministers, Respected guests and parents, friends, and students, I would like to welcome you to Sahithi Academy Sports Day.

School sports day is a red letter day on the calendar. It is a day when students are freed from their classrooms to jump and run around, with much sportsmanship.

This year, I am pleased to see, many have competed encompassing over 50 staff members in a wide variety of events. Not least of which is the tug-of-war which I am told will be vigorously contested.

As I look around here today I am reminded once again of just how passionate teachers are about sport and what great competitors you all area one of the consistencies I see when I watch students play at school is the Sahithi Academy Students have for sport.

And what a great thing sport is on so many levels. Beyond the obvious health and activity benefits, sport can teach us much about life. It teaches us about teamwork, it teaches us how to get along with others, and it teaches us to work together to achieve a common goal. It’s also about trust and responsibility and about dealing with success and failure.

Sport also helps us learn about coping with pressure and the need to stick with training in order to improve. As well as the benefits to individuals, sports and physical activity also bring great benefits to communities through such things as improved health and education, rehabilitation, crime prevention, and gender equality.

Another important aspect of sports is its ability to make people feel they are part of something. In a- survey done on our last sports day, everybody interviewed said that the event made them feel a part of Sahithi, Academy.

Sahithi Academy recognizes the value of using sport as vehicle for development.

I congratulate the organizers and particularly the director of studies Mr. Sri Hari, the principal Mrs. Chintamani Reddy and the vice principal, Mr. Siddique, the technical coordinators Mr. Joe Thomson, and other members of the organizing team who have done a qreat job in putting together today’s programme.

Question 8.
Prepare a speech on “Tree Plantation” taking help from the following points. (March 2016)

Greeting – importance of trees – present status (disappearance of trees – deforestations – problems) need of plantation – reforestation – seedlings distribution – responsibilities of students.
Answer:
A speech on Tree Plantation :

Our beloved Headmaster, respected teachers and my fellow students.

Good morning to all: Today I stand before you to speak on the importance of ‘Tree Plantation’. Trees occupy an important, valuable and necessary place to our very existence as well as the existence of all the life on our earth. Trees are the most useful things in the world. They are our best and most valuable friends. They, in fact, sustain our lives. Just imagine, if they had not provided us with oxygen or with food, fuel, furniture, fruits, herbs, houses for birds, what kind of life it would have been ? Well, there wouldn’t have been life at all.

Trees help us to get rain. Rain gives us water. As you know, no one can live without water. Trees have many more uses. The rubber tree grows in many parts of the world. From the sap of this tree we get rubber. Some trees like eucalyptus give us medicines. Trees not only beautify environment but also prevent floods, droughts, famines, soil erosion, land-slides, desertification etc.

They work as a great force and instrument in maintaining ecological balance in nature. I need not say that we have destroyed forests, in our extreme greed. It has led to so many environmental problems. It has effected the patterns of rain and the air. It seems that life may be impossible on the earth, if it goes on like this.

So for our survival, plantation is essential. Reforestation must be done. We should distribute seedlings and promote plantation. Students also consider this as their responsibility.
