    Advantages:

A) Gender bias still prevails in our country. It is very unfortunate.
Reasons:

  1. Ours is a male-dominated society.
  2. Female literacy rate is low.
  3. Women who work outside the homes are less in number.
  4. Traditionally women have less involvement in social Life in our society.
  5. Still today there are at least some parents who think that “udyogam purusha Lakshanam” and women should be limited to household works only.
  6. The brutal dowry system is also discouraging some of the parents to support their daughters’ education.

Solutions:

  1. Male-dominated attitudes in the society must be changed democratically.
  2. Female literacy rate should be increased. Governments have to take care of this.
  3. Women should be encouraged to work outside the homes too. If women are engaged in some paid work and if they have some own earnings, their self-confidence and dignity will increase.
  4. Parents must treat their sons and daughters equally.
  5. They should give equal priority to their daughters’ education also.
  6. The social evils towards women such as dowry system should be abolished.
