To accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and to put focus on sanitation, the Prime Minister of India, launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on 2 October 2014. Dr. A. Madhavi Latha compiled the essay “Disaster Management”. It is about the conditions, an individual has to face while managing the disaster. India is a disaster prone country. Disasters like tsunamis, floods1, hurricanes2, earthquakes3, volcano eruptions are some of the natural4 disasters. There are other disasters, like gas leaks, oil spills, nuclear problem, industrial fire etc, which come under manmade disasters. There are a number of ways to avoid the problems caused by these disasters. The Red cross and the Red Crescent societies define dişaster managements. It is a situation in which everything is disturbed and becomes uncontrollable5 and encountering with the situation is called disaster management.

There is a coastline6 of 4,700 miles and so, India faces disasters like floods, earthquakes, cyclones, tsunamis etc. There had been a lot of disasters throughout the years. National Disaster Management Institute deals with these havocs. Forecasts7, warning information and preparations help people to get saved from these disasters.

Tsunami of 2004, affected many countries. South East Asia, Indonesia, India were hit by the earthquake severely. Later Tsunami warning system was started. Information sources have been helping, by using software application. NMDA helps the country making it safer and disaster free India. Hudhud of 2014, which hit Vishakhapatnam was the most devastating8 cyclone.

Bhopal Gas disaster was caused by technological failure. It is a man made disaster. It happened in the year 1984 by the leakage of a poisonous gas, in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. 50,000 people were affected. They had severe problems with lungs9, eyes and skin. Some people who had been the sufferers of this calamity are alive today. This gruesome10 situation has caused because of negligence and carelessness. Thermometer factory in Kodaikanal imported11 mercury12 from the United States. The workers of the factory were hit by the affect of mercury and had kidney ailments. The huge mercury level caused damage.

Planning and policy making help World Wide Disaster Management. National Institute of Disaster Management, manages to give sufficient knowledge in the subject. In collaboration13 with the World Bank. NIDM offers a number of online courses in disaster management. Washington came forward to give analytical14 skills15 and professional competencies16, to the people. The effort of NIDM is very great in disastrous management.

2004లోని సునామీ, చాలా దేశాలను తాకింది. South East Asia, ఇండోనేషియా, ఇండియా ఈ భూకంపంతో భయంకరంగా కొట్టబడినాయి. తరువాత సునామీ హెచ్చరిక సిస్టమ్ వచ్చింది. విషయాలు తెలిపే సంస్థలు, సాఫ్ట్ వేరును ఉపయోగించి సహాయపడుతున్నాయి.
