Then the situation changed. Jumman and his wife became indifferent to her. His wife was not happy to serve even the little food to her. She ill-treated and insulted her on many occasions. The old woman tolerated them a few months. Finally, she decided to cook her Own food.

So she asked Jumman to give her a monthly allowance. But Jumman did not agree to it. So she got angry and told her problem to the villagers. Some sympathised with her; others laughed at her and a few suggested her to adjust with her nephew and his wife. At last she met Algu Chowdhry for his support.
She pleaded him to come to the panchayat and speak the truth. Algu Chowdhry said that he could not go against his best friend (Jumman).
Part -II
The old woman took the case to the village panchayat. The panchayat was held the same evening under an old banyan tree.

Jumman suggested his aunt (the old woman) to nominate the head panch. He promised that he would abide by her decision. Then the old woman announced the name of Algu chowdhry as head Panch. Jumman felt happy because he thought that Algu would give judgement in his favour.
The old woman explained her case to the panchayat. Algu heard it carefully. Then he asked Jumman if he had anything to say in his defence. Jumman told him all that had happened. He also said that it was not possible for him to pay her the monthly allowance. Jumman was cross-examined by Algu Chowdhry and others.

They became enemies after the case.

Sahu did not pay the price of the bullock to Algu Chowdhry.

Algu Chowdhry could not but refer the case to the panchayat. In a few months, the panchayat was held under the old banyan tree. Algu asked Sahu to nominate the head Panch. At once he proposed the name of Jumman. Algu’s heart sank and he turned pale.
Both Algu and Sahu stated their cases. They were cross-examined and the case was considered deeply. Jumman had now an opportunity to take revenge on Algu. But when he became the head Panch, he realized the responsibility to the seat of the judge.
